Preserved Light Photography | The Light of Night | Photo 12

To think we are moving at 30km/s around the Sun, which is circling the center of our galaxy at ~107km/s, which is zipping around the universe at 600km/s is quite astounding. *(NASA - October 28, 1997) I used a double exposure technique in an attempt to illustrate this concept; one exposure at 30 seconds for the Milky Way, and another 1.5 hour exposure for the star trails. I then layered the two photos in Adobe Photoshop and adjusted the opacity accordingly to recreate a realistic sense of motion.
